RBI Grade B 2027: notification in February, Phase I in April
RBI’s recruitment calendar for 2027 moves Grade B about two months earlier than 2026. Here is what that does to your plan.
RBI has published its Annual Recruitment Calendar for Class I posts, panel year 2027 (as on 22 October 2026). For Grade B (DR), General, DEPR and DSIM, the notification is planned for February 2027, Phase I for April 2027 and Phase II for May or June 2027.

The dates are month-wise and indicative. RBI says the decision to recruit and the months can change, and that eligibility, vacancies and final dates will be in each advertisement.
About two months earlier than 2026
In 2026 the notification came on 29 April, Phase I was on 13 June and Phase II on 26 July. In 2027 the whole cycle moves up by about two months. Counting from today, Phase I is roughly five to six months away.
What it means for your preparation
- Start Phase II now. With Phase II in May or June, the time after the notification goes into Phase I. Plan for the last 15 days before Phase II, as always, but begin ESI, Finance and Management before the notification.
- GA moves too. RBI GA leans on the last four to six months, so for an April Phase I the window is roughly October 2026 to March 2027.
- The Union Budget (presented on 1 February) and the Economic Survey arrive just before the notification. Keep a slot for them in February: they feed GA, ESI and the descriptive paper.
- Write early. A descriptive answer takes weeks to improve, and the gap between the phases is still short.
- Watch for Grade A (DR), General: a separate single-phase recruitment, notified in July 2027 with the exam in September 2027.
Don’t plan for Phase II. Plan for the last 15 days before it, and study only what you can revise in those days.
