Don’t plan for Phase II. Plan for the last 15 days before it.

Plan in four months and you read too much. Plan for the last 15 days and you study only what you can revise.

Confused? When you plan for Phase II, you plan in terms of four months. The moment you imagine 120 days of preparation, you get over-ambitious and start reading material you don’t need.

Plan for the last 15 days instead. What you revise in the last 15 days is what helps you in the exam. In the 105 days before that, study only what you can revise in those 15.

Scarcity leads to innovation and efficiency. That is true in the RBI Grade B exam too.

What this means in practice

  • Between Phase I and Phase II you get about 14 days for ESI, Finance, Management and English, objective and descriptive, static and current.
  • Don’t start a book you can’t revise at least 10 times.
  • Avoid any material over 200 pages.
  • Keep your GA notes short: monthly compilations of 100 to 120 pages add up to 600 to 700 pages, and none of them is made for RBI.
