The acads IFoS Priority Matrix
The whole scope of the IFoS optionals fits into four quadrants. Start with quadrant 4.
The whole scope of the IFoS optionals can be divided into four quadrants, by two questions: is it in the syllabus, and is it in the PYQs?
Everyone knows it matters; hardly anyone does it diligently. Finish this before you look anywhere else.
PYQPYQPYQOne or two questions a year come out of nowhere. They can’t be predicted. Period.
Relevant for CSE, but in IFoS you can leave it for the end without losing much.
Obvious, yet many coaching institutes make candidates study it. It can cost you an attempt.
AvoidQuadrant 1: not in the syllabus, not in the PYQs
Obviously this should be avoided, yet many coaching institutes make candidates study it, and it costs them a precious attempt. Avoid this quadrant at all costs.
Quadrant 2: in the syllabus, but not in the PYQs
Definitely relevant for CSE. In IFoS it can be skipped without losing too many marks. The smart approach keeps it for the end.
Quadrant 3: in the PYQs, but not in the syllabus
Every year one or two questions appear out of nowhere. There is no point worrying about them. They can’t be predicted. Period.
Quadrant 4: in the PYQs, and in the syllabus
Everyone knows it matters. Hardly anyone does it diligently. Don’t even look at another quadrant until you’re done with this one.
