Overcoming procrastination with time boxing

If you’re procrastinating on a task, don’t force yourself to finish it. Put it in a time box. Setting a time for it lowers your resistance, and by the time it’s up you’ll often have enough momentum to keep going much longer.

Time boxing means fixing a period of time for a task or group of tasks. Instead of working on a task until it is done, you commit to working on it for a set time.

Perfect is the enemy of good

Avoid the temptation to perfect any topic. Perfectionists dwell on a task for so long that a big chunk of their time is gone before they notice. A definite cut-off time for each task is one of the best defences.
