How to avoid the trap of information overload
There is no better time than the last 100 days to accept the truth: you have limited time and brain power. Stop running after perfection and start limiting your resources. Your limitations are not incompetence; you are a Homo sapiens. It is biological.
99.9% of aspirants start with a very ambitious list of books and an equally ambitious schedule of more than 12 hours a day. It takes them a year or two to accept the truth. Don’t repeat the mistake.
- Be very strict with your resources and keep them limited.
- Make a realistic timetable based on the hours you actually have, and map it to the number of pages you plan to study. Drop any resource with a low cost-benefit ratio.
- Have zero tolerance for redundant resources.
- Use a knowledge management system that keeps your notes integrated, harmonised and compact.
- Have a system for note-making and revision.
- Study smart, not hard.
